Meet Gramma

Who is Gramma?

Gramma tells it like it is, with love. That's what grandmothers did back in the day.

When you wanted to talk to someone, you went to her because she didn't judge, but always gave you something to think about.

She could make you laugh, and she could make you cry, but she always gave you a smile, a hug, and a plate of food!  Gramma Rose is that kind of Gramma.

She's a little old school, and a little new school, and she will school you on whatever you need to know.  The Good Book says that we should love everybody, and that's exactly what she does, so stop by any time!

"When you wanted to talk to someone, you went to her (gramma) because she didn't judge, but always gave you something to think about."

Where did she come from?

Gramma grew up in West Virginia to a large family, the eldest of ten. She was brought up in a home where she feared God, went to church  twice on Sunday (Southern Baptist of course), and twice during the week for bible study and choir rehearsal.

She has been a faithful member of the choir for many years, and believes in God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Ghost.

She got her wisdom from the Word of God (the bible), and life's experiences.

She bases her teachings on the good book, but realizes that these days, people don't like to be preached to, so she puts things in a way that people can understand and relate to.

Her mission is to bring people together through love, and to encourage intergenerational conversation so that we can share our experiences.

"She's a little old school, and a little new school, and she will school you on whatever you need to know."

Why do we need her?

While scrolling through social media, she noticed that there were a lot of hurting people out there, who seemed to lack guidance on how to treat one another, and how to treat themselves.

Women - young and old alike - seemed to be emulating the behavior and demeanor of music videos and reality shows. It seemed as if our collective moral compass was spinning out of control, and we lacked direction.

Those thoughts brought her to memories of how it was when she grew up.

Back in her day, it took a village to raise a child. Parents, neighbors, aunts, and grandmothers all had an eye on you to make sure that you didn't go buck wild.  Nowadays, it seems that you can't even discipline your own children, and that is just a shame.

So Gramma was born to help to bridge the gap and get people to start talking to one another rather than about one another.

"It seemed as if our collective moral compass was spinning out of control, and we lacked direction."

Who Created Her?

Hi, I'm Debra Rose, creator of Gramma Rose.

Because social media can be a place of such negativity, I felt that we needed a positive voice of reason, and some old-school training amid the confusion.

I realized that sometimes we need a neutral "person" who can speak freely without being unfriended or blocked.

Sometimes a fictional character can say things that need to be said, and people are more accepting.

With my background in theater and writing, and my desire to help others, it was a natural transition to create a character outside of myself, using my writing and acting gifts.

Gramma Rose has been on Facebook for several years now, and has been received with open arms.  Now she's available to everyone.

Please visit often, spread the word, join the conversation, and let’s be a village for each other!

Don't forget to join the mailing list so I can keep you connected to Gramma!
