Facebook is Like a Buffet

Babies, I’ve seen some of you  get upset on Facebook when people post about politics, religion, sex, or “too many” baby pictures.

Don’t you know that Facebook is like an after church Sunday afternoon buffet? Let me tell you what I mean.  When you go to the buffet, everything is laid out for you. The restaurant decides what goes on the buffet, just like Facebook decides what goes in your newsfeed.

Now, as you go through the buffet, you have a choice as to which one of those things you put on your own plate and eat.

You may get big helpings of some things and go back for more. You may take a little taste of other things to decide if you like them, and you might just walk on by other things because you already know that they don’t suit your taste.

You don’t get all upset because they put broccoli on the buffet, and you don’t like broccoli! You just don’t put broccoli on your plate. Get what I’m saying to you? The restaurant has a right to put broccoli on the buffet because some people do like broccoli.

What I’m saying, babies, is that you have a choice to take whatever food you want. You choose what is healthy for you.

It’s the same for Facebook. You read what you want to read, and scroll past what is not your taste.  It’s the newsfeed, not your personal page.  Now if something is offensive, you have a right to report it, just as you would report a fly in your banana pudding. It’s simple.

So, babies, remember that you do have a choice. You can just scroll past, and you can also block and unfriend folks, but keep in mind that when you do that, those people might be the very people who can benefit from what you have to share.

Cutting them off might be cutting off a lifeline that you don’t even know that they need.  Just something to think about.

Anyway, realizing that you do have a choice, I’m glad that you have chosen to put a little helping of Gramma Rose on your plate today!
