You Never Know Who’s Watching

You Never Know Who’s Watching

You Never Know Who’s Watching

My dad used to say to always be on your best behavior, because you never know who is watching you. I have found that to be true.

Just the other day, I was in line at the grocery store, and I was in a little bit of a hurry because I had an appointment. Well, there was a woman ahead of the woman in front of me, who had some issues with her payments, coupons, and a price check. It was a little annoying, but I stood there patiently.

The woman directly in front of me struck up a conversation with me. She was a little annoyed too, but we both decided that it wasn’t worth getting bent out of shape about. We laughed and said that it would probably be us next week!

After we exchanged pleasantries, she said, “By the way, I love your posts on Facebook. They really lift me up.” I replied, “Well, thank you so much!” By this time, it was her turn in line, and when she left, we exchanged “God bless you.”

I couldn’t help but think about how that exchange would have been quite different if I had grumbled and sighed and tapped my foot and gotten angry about the woman in front of us who was having a difficult time.

I had no idea that the woman who I was talking to knew who I was. I’m sure I would have lost a friend and other potential friends if I had behaved in a negative way.

Babies, it just goes to show you that you never know who is watching you. You never know who reads your posts without responding or “liking” the post. You never know whom you bless, and you never know whom you irritate by the things that you put out into cyberspace.

Believe me, it pays to think a bit before you push that Post button. My suggestion is to, as my dad used to say, always be on your best behavior. Let them see the best of you, and you will be surprised at the love you will get in return.

And remember, I’m telling you this because no one else has told you, and because God loves you, and so do I!

So true! I have a site called Tiny Tidbits that I regularly post in, and have gotten the “your words strike me. Thank you!” I have been taught the same, give the best of yourself, and you never know who’s watching. I’d like to think my Heavenly Father is pleased when we show our best side and perhaps, we win a few souls to Christ in the meantime!

This is certainly true. I have been in the old Borders at different times (years ago when we had a borders) and someone would say, “Don’t I know you?” “Didn’t you teach career at ACC years ago?” I was always glad I was looking good on that day because it was always a former student who wanted to tell me what my class did for them and I was always caught up with what they were doing now as a result of the class. I was always glad I was dressed appropriately, like a counselor or a teacher (lol!) because those are valuable opportunities.

Thanks for your comment, Diana. This is a good example, and reinforces what my dad used to say. Nowadays we have become so casual about how we look. Back in my day, it was something that people really focused on. We used to get dressed up to go to the movies!

But beyond how we look, it’s also important how we act. Being socially unacceptable has become acceptable, and that leads to disrespect and disregard for individuals and groups as well. It has to stop somewhere, and I believe it can START with us as individuals. Thanks for your comment.

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very hard to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say you have done a amazing job with this. Also, the blog loads very fast for me on Firefox. Exceptional Blog!
