When Life Gives you Lemons

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. I know y’all have heard that before, but I’m about to expand on that a little bit.

When life gives you lemons, make your lemonade, child, but you don’t have to open a stand and try to sell those lemons to everybody! You think they want your lemons? They’ve got lemons of their own!

In other words, let’s think of lemons as problems or difficulties in our lives.  We all have them, and at times, we need someone to talk to about them, and that’s a good thing.  Most of us have people in our lives who we can confide in.  That might be a close friend, mentor, relative (like a grandmother :), clergy, or a professional.

Telling these people about your lemons will likely lead to a solution, or at least a way of dealing with them.

Another approach would be to set up a lemonade stand so you can tell Lottie, Dottie, and everybody!  Now believe me, I know that it feels good to vent, but some things need to be kept to ourselves and the people involved.

I know, I  know, that’s how they get ratings on reality shows, but in the real reality, it just doesn’t serve anybody to do that.

You want to know something?  When you put someone on blast, chances are the person who you’re trying to talk to isn’t even listening.  If they are, you end up with lemons flying everywhere, with no shelter in sight!

Instead, squeeze the livin’ daylights out of the lemons to make lemon-AID for yourself.  See, those lemons are to help you through something in your life.  Ask God what He wants you to learn from them, listen to him, and then use what he tells you to add a little honey or sugar to sweeten it.

Then take time to savor the lemonade (the lesson you’ve learned or the wisdom you’ve gathered), and then move on!  You don’t want to be drinkin’ spoiled lemonade.

Move on!
